Operating principle

Modular Fire Fighting Pump Station is a set of equipment and pipelines designed to supply water or foam extinguishing agent to the fire zone to prevent fire development. Liquid in this equipment is supplied under pressure. In most cases, two groups of pumps are placed in FFPS – main pumps and circulating pumps. Usually, one pump is in operation, another is standby. Circulating pumps in continuous operation serve to maintain constant pressure in the fire water ring. Main pumps start up only when fire signal is received. Depending on the required technology, pump stations can be of water-, foam- and combined fire extinguishing type. Fire Fighting Pump Stations are equipped with centrifugal type pumps. Pumps are selected based on the required supply flow rate and pressure head. All types of pump units available for delivery are actuated by electric motors of general industrial design. Also, in order to ensure uninterrupted fire extinguishing, FFPS can be equipped with pumps with internal combustion engines in case of a power outage at the facility.
